Poor Sebastian! Adrift in a sea of low self-esteem, he feels like his friends don't like him at all. In order to gain their acceptance, Sebastian decides to tryout for his favorite professional basketball team. Only there is a problem - Sebastian is an elf and elves can't dunk! A creative thinking little elf, Sebastian comes up with a solution to his dunking dilemma by taking some of Santa's special feed corn - the stuff that makes Santa's reindeer fly - with him to the tryout. This super-corn gives Sebastian more hang time than Michael Jordan on the moon! When the coach finds out about the corn, he immediately sees all sorts of devious possibilities for his team of losers. The scheming coach then sets out on a mission to steal the corn from Santa Claus! Soon, its up to Sebastian, his friends Ralphy the polar bear, Holly the elf and even ol' Santa himself to catch the Coach and save Christmas! "Elves Can't Dunk" is a delightful story appropriate for kids ages 6-10 who are comfortable with chapter books. The colorful cover is eye-catching, and Robert Skead proves to be a first rate children's writer with his witty interaction between the good guys and the bad. This story is a lot of fun, plus there is a good moral in the end. For kids who love basketball, this holiday story will certainly be right up their alley.
